Savage Model 99 in .30-30 Winchester
The Savage ’99 remains an enduring symbol of rural Canada. As it passes its 96th year of age this year, it’s bore and internal workings remain in superb order. Externally, it showed its age pre-restoration with modest pitting and a dry and weathered stock. Our restoration of both steel and wood has provided it with a renewed lease on life and an enduring legacy value. The stock has been re-finished in polymerized tung oil rubbed to a subdued luster and shows two previously-drilled and filled holes where a peep sight had been in earlier years (see image here). External steel parts were sand-blasted and finished in Arma-Coat.
